Julie McGhee Howard Elected President of College of Community Association Lawyers
Julie McGhee Howard of NowackHoward, LLC to Serve as 2018 President of CCAL

ATLANTA, GA (November 15, 2017) – Julie McGhee Howard, co-founder of the community association law firm NowackHoward has been elected president of the Community Associations Institute’s (CAI) prestigious College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL). Her one-year term begins January 1, 2018.

Recognized locally and nationally for her contributions to condominium and homeowner association law, Howard is known for her work advocating for community association legislation and effective operations. Howard has extensive experience teaching, speaking and writing about community associations. Howard has a long record of service to CAI both in Georgia and at the national level. Howard is Past President of CAI, based in Falls Church, Virginia, and the Georgia Chapter of CAI. Howard was elected to the CCAL Board of Governors in 2015.

“Being elected by my peers to serve as president of CCAL is one of the greatest honors of my career,” Howard says. “It’s an honor and privilege to serve with the members of this distinguished college who are among the very best, most dedicated community association attorneys.”

Established in 1993 by the CAI Board of Trustees, CCAL provides a forum for the exchange of information among experienced legal professionals working in the community association field. Its goals include promoting high standards of professional and ethical responsibility, improving and advancing community association law practice, and facilitating the development of educational materials and programming pertaining to legal issues.

CCAL members also are actively involved in state and federal legislative activities and prepare amicus curiae (friend-of-the-court) briefs on critical judicial cases that affect common-interest communities.

Of at least several thousand practicing HOA attorneys nationwide, fewer than 175 have been granted membership in the College. Howard is only the second woman in CCAL’s history to be elected to lead the College.

Howard, who lives in Sandy Springs, received a BA from Furman University and a JD from University of Georgia School of Law.

NowackHoward’s offices are at Resurgens Plaza (Suite 1250, 945 East Paces Ferry Road, NE) in Atlanta. NowackHoward’s website is nowackhoward.com.
