Community Association Attorney George Nowack Joins Law Council of Washington and Lee University Law School

ATLANTA, GA (November 15, 2017) – George E. Nowack, Jr., co-founder of the community association law firm NowackHoward and one of the nation’s most distinguished attorneys serving the specialized and growing market of community associations, has been elected to the Law Council of his alma mater Washington and Lee University Law School.

“It’s an honor to serve the institution that served me so well,” explained Nowack. “I look forward to being part of the Council team and helping guide this historic and exemplary law school as it prepares new generations of attorneys.”

The Law Council is the governing board of the Law Alumni Association. Council members advise the dean of the Law School on matters related to career strategy, admissions, reputation of the Law School, curriculum, alumni relations, and fundraising. This includes examining and providing advice about issues central to the future of the school; supporting the Law School financially; and serving as ambassadors of the Law School and the University. Nowack’s term commences with the 2018-2019 academic year.

The Washington and Lee School of Law was founded in 1850 and has many distinguished practitioners, judges and entrepreneurs among its alumni, including several U.S. Supreme Court Justices. Located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, the school is one of the smallest of the nation’s top-tier law schools and is considered an innovator in legal education, focusing on character and challenging students to solve real world problems.

In addition to the Law Council, Nowack served as president and trustee of the international Community Associations Institute and dean of the College of Community Association Lawyers and has taught, spoken, and written about issues relating to community associations. In addition, Nowack has been quoted in articles for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other publications on association-specific issues relating to fair housing, insurance coverage, and urban sprawl.

Nowack graduated with a BA from Lehigh University, with highest honors, and earned his JD from Washington and Lee.
